The Boys Junior Developmental Program is designed for athletes who are ready for a higher level of training, commitment, and competitive gymnastics.Through structured progressions and focused coaching, athletes are challenged to develop strength, technique, and discipline as they work toward reaching their highest potential in the sport. The JDP program requires increased commitment and accountability, with higher expectations both in and out of the gym. In return, athletes gain the opportunity to grow as competitors and as individuals. At Gleason’s, we are committed to helping each gymnast pursue excellence through hard work, resilience, and dedication—while building skills and confidence that extend far beyond gymnastics.

BOYS' PRE-TEAM

Junior Boys is the first step in the boys' competitive gymnastics program and considered one of our Pre-Team levels. These boys are selected from our preschool and recreational classes based on ability level, maturity, and interest. The pre-team level focuses on technique. The athletes train on all six men's Olympic events plus skill training on the trampoline.  The next step is Training Team before they begin a competitive level they will learn more about the program and improve their skills to get them ready for competition.

COMPULSORY Level 3

The Level 3 Team is the first level of competition and will compete in USA Gymnastics Sanctioned meets. The boys train and compete in each of the six events which are part of the men’s Olympic all-around: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and the high bar. At this level the boys work on routines for each event and build on skills and emphasis is on team competition.

COMPULSORY Levels 4, 5, 6

The next segment of our boys programs consists of three levels of compulsory routines: Levels 4, 5, and 6. Each of these levels builds upon skills learned in the previous level. These compulsory levels help the boys to develop the strong basics they will need later for the optional levels. The boys at these levels compete in USA Gymnastics sanctioned competitions where they compete against other boys in the same age-groups from other clubs around our state and region.

OPTIONALS Levels 7, 8, 9, 10

Beginning with Level 7, the boys enter the optional levels of our program. The routines at these levels, while still having certain difficulty and special requirements, are created by the gymnast and his coach to show the talent and creativity of each individual. Boys who continue on into the optional levels of our program train up to four days a week, and may qualify for Nationals at Levels 8, 9 and 10.
