BOYS XCEL PROGRAM
Athletes are placed based on skill level, strength, and coach recommendation.
The Boys Xcel Program offers a flexible, team-based training option for athletes who are ready for more than recreational gymnastics, but are not looking for the full commitment of the Boys Junior Developmental Program (JDP).Designed as a bridge between recreational classes and competitive team, Boys Xcel allows athletes to build skills, gain confidence, and experience team training in a more balanced and accessible environment.
Athletes in this program focus on:
-
Strength, coordination, and foundational skill development
-
Learning routines and structured progressions across all men’s events
-
Building confidence through goal-setting and achievement
-
Preparing for optional competition opportunities
Competition Opportunities
Because Boys Xcel is a developing program—especially within Region 2—competition opportunities are designed to be flexible and athlete-focused.
Depending on readiness and interest, athletes may have opportunities to participate in:
-
Local and in-house meets
-
AAU or alternative competitions
-
Modified or Xcel-style events hosted by other programs
Competition is introduced in a way that emphasizes confidence, experience, and growth, rather than pressure
At Gleason’s, Boys Xcel creates a clear pathway for athletes to continue progressing in gymnastics—whether that means staying in Xcel long-term or moving into the Junior Developmental Program.
