We offer competitive teams in both boys & girls gymnastics as well as a nationally ranked trampoline & tumbling team. |
Pre-Elite, Petite Elite & Training Team are our pre-competitive teams here at Gleason's. Girls are selected for Pre-Elites and Petite Elites from our Pre-school and recreational classes based on specific ability tests. From Petite Elites, these girls then progress to the Training Team. In these prep-teams the girls will be working on the USAG Levels 1-4 in order to prepare them for Level 5 which is the first level in which they will enter competition. |
The second segment of our Girls Program consists of two levels of compulsory routines; Levels 5, 6. Each of the levels builds upon the skills acquired in the previous level. The girls will begin USA Gymnastics Sanctioned competition at Level 5, where they will be competing against other girls in their same age group and ability levels.
Beginning with Level 7, the girls enter the optional levels of our program. These levels consist of routines which are comprised of certain requirements, but are created by the gymnast and her coach to show off the uniqueness of each gymnasts own style. Level 9 and 10 gymnasts may also qualify for National Level competition.
The Level 4 Team is the first level of competition for boys who are interested in competitive gymnastics. These boys are selected from our recreational classes (Advanced 5's through Beginning gymnasts) based on ability level, maturity, and interest. Each of the six events which are part of the men's Olympic all-around: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and the high bar, are involved in our boys program and training. At this level, we place a high emphasis on team competition. |
The compulsory levels are to develop strong basics for the optional levels of boys gymnastics. These levels will compete against boys in the same age-groups from other clubs in our state and region.
The optional levels are the levels where the gymnasts get to show off their talent and creativity by making up their own optional routines. These routines consist of special difficulty requirements which are finely tuned at the optional levels. Gymnasts may qualify for national competition at Level 9. |
This is a developmental program for young talent. No previous experience is required, however any child who is accepted must show an aptitude for gymnastics. Jumpin’ Beans is designed to teach younger gymnasts self-confidence as well as teach kids body control and awareness, correct technique and basic skills in preparation to compete in the future. |
This is the second level developmental program for competitive trampoline and tumbling. Once a child has mastered the basic skills from Jumpin’ Beans they will move into our Training Team program to further ready themselves for competition. Here they will continue to work on the more difficult skills required for entry onto our competitive teams They will be continuing to learn correct technique and body control in order to execute already learned skills perfectly. |
This is the introductory level to competition. A front flip on trampoline and a back handspring on floor is required to be on the Level 5-6 team. Although this is an independent sport it is still very team oriented. The ability to be cooperative with team members and coaches, and being supportive during practices and meets is required. Level 5-6 Team members compete at all local meets, and have the opportunity to attend a regional meet near the season end in March. |
Once an athlete has mastered the skills needed for competition they advance to the Levels 7-8 team where we begin working skill combinations into full routines. Athletes at this level compete in local, as well as regional competitions. Athletes competing level 8 have the opportunity of competing at the USAG Nationals. |
Level 9-10 athletes begin to learn optional routines. Level 9-10 athletes begin working on multiple somersaulting flips, and flips with twists. Level 9-10 teams often travel to regional and national meets, and have the opportunity to compete to be a part of the World Age Group team, and junior Olympic program that travels to international competitions. |
The Elite Team trains the athletes to perform many high level skills, such as multiple twisting and flipping single and double somersaults, along with style and technique. The athletes compete in all local, regional, and national meets, along with the opportunity to travel internationally for the sport. Every two years athletes from Gleason’s compete with others nation wide for a chance to represent the gym at the World Championships. |
