Boys Recreational Gymnastics
Musclemites

“Musclemites” is a boys-only class that introduces boys to the world of gymnastics. As with all Gleason’s pre-school classes emphasis is placed on using movement as a springboard for developing the physical, mental and social skills necessary for success in gymnastics and beyond. Experiencing various gymnastic movements, inverting, rolling, cartwheeling, and tumbling at a young age, the child becomes better prepared and more confident to attempt more advanced skills and challenges as they progress throughout the year.

Boys must be four years of age as of September 1st to enroll.

Boys Gymnastics Ages 5-6

In the Beginning Boys classes the students will be introduced the basics of gymnastics in all six events of men’s gymnastics: Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Still Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars, and Horizontal Bar. The trampoline is also used for learning and fun in this level. Rolls, handstands, and cartwheels are the basics taught in the tumbling section, while hanging, supporting, traveling, and proper landing techniques are the basic themes on all of the apparatus.

The only difference is the age grouping and maturity level of the boys.

Boys Advanced Gymnastics

In the Advanced Boys classes the students will continue trainning on all of the events and the trampoline. At this level, the back handspring is developed along with mastery of the handstand and cartwheel. Basic skills are also taught on the apparatus, including an emphasis on strength and flexibility. Some boys at this level are eligible to join our competitive team program. Ask the office if you have any questions regarding the team program.
